Maaco Systems Canada is switching to environmentally friendly, low-VOC paint systems well in advance of a Canadian deadline of January 2009. The new formulations will require significantly less basecoat per job than comparable solvent-based products. Gary Dohring was applauded at a news conference at Maaco Canada headquarters, as he announced Maaco's 36 shops across the country will cut their annual emissions by 64 per cent. The Canadian industry must reduce its annual VOC emissions by at least 40 percent. "We believe it makes good business sense to be environmentally friendly and we are acutely aware of the need to do our part to make a difference - not only for the environment but for our health as well," Gary said. "It's what our customers want and it's the socially responsible thing to do."
