Former Saab president opens Maaco in Burton, Mich.

Leading auto industry executive Dan Chasins opened a showcase Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting franchise at G3345 South Dort Highway in Burton.

Chasins served as president of Saab Cars USA for three years, after holding various positions in marketing and product development in both the U.S. and Sweden over the previous eight years. He was also executive vice president, marketing, for United Auto Group, an automotive retailer with 171 U.S. franchises. Assisting Chasins will be his wife, Maria, returning to work now that their two daughters, are in the ninth and eleventh grades.

“I spent 30 years working in corporations and had a lot of positive experiences,” Chasins said. “I felt it was time to take a different course. I wanted to travel less and be home more. It was also time to invest for my own portfolio and create a business and a growing asset that is my own as opposed to someone else’s.”
